Today, we celebrate National Battery Day, honoring the innovation of batteries. And their transformative role in our daily lives and global commerce. Did you know that the journey of batteries began in 1800 when Italian physicist Alessandro. Volta creat the first true battery, the voltaic pile? Fast forward to 2025. And batteries are now a ubiquitous and essential part of our daily lives.
As their importance continues to grow, it is critical to improve safety. Emergency, compliance and training procures to protect individuals, the environment, assets and reputation. At CHEMTREC, our mission is to provide innovative solutions to those who work with batteries, transport them, or simply want to learn more about batteries.
Emergency Response
Under the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), shippers are requir to provide a 24/7 monitor emergency contact telephone number on shipping papers for any hazardous material. This number must be easily accessible to responders and familiar with the specific type of battery being shipp.

Safety Data Sheets
Most standard batteries do not require a Safety Data Sheet (SDS); however, OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard requires that any hazardous fusion database chemicals be label and that employers and their employees have an SDS. If an incident occurs with a product containing a battery, the employee should be able to easily retrieve the SDS. Therefore, it is a good idea for battery manufacturers to have an SDS ready in case it is request.
In addition, the Emergency Planning and Public Right to Information Act (EPCRA) requires facilities to maintain and make available SDSs for hazardous chemicals to local emergency planning committees and fire departments. These regulations help those who work with batteries ensure that they are handl, us, and dispos of safely, while also ensuring that any hazards are effectively communicat through an SDS.
At CHEMTREC, we provide comprehensive Safety Data grow your email list and profits Sheet solutions, from authorization, management, and distribution. Our services facilitate easy compliance, meeting the highest industry standards.
Lithium Battery Test Summary Reports

Once testing is complete, the manufacturer and distributor must provide reports to verify that the batteries have pass all requir tests. These reports must also be made available to anyone involv in the transport of lithium batteries.
