People leadership and the role of HR

Bas on your expertise from practice, research and teaching, how do you assess the role of HR (Human Resources / Human Relations / Personnel Management), especially in (smaller) companies/organizations?

Dealing with the challenges associat with the coronavirus pandemic has shown that HR is capable of successfully overcoming unexpect challenges. In the future, the importance of HR will increase even further, particularly in the areas of retention, recruiting and personnel development. For me, retaining existing employees is and remains the best recruiting.

In my view

it is worthwhile to invest in digital talent relationship management (especially relationships with former employees, interns and reject applicants), in traditional vocational training and smart onboarding of new employees. Recruiting definitely nes more patience and a high level of professionalism.

Yes, this long-term perspective is often truemoney data underestimat. And what can – or even must – HR do to make the organization “fit for the future”?

In the future, it will be less about personnel measures per se, but primarily about how they are perceiv and experienc by employees. Employees expect work to be largely individualiz and made more flexible. Companies will have to offer a variety of options here that go far beyond the topic of home office. These expectations are aim at regularly taking family matters into account, for example with regard to children, but also when caring for relatives. Employers will have to answer their employees’ questions.

More Frequently

about the meaning of their work and the sustainability of products and services. In the future, many employees will also want to feel more involv and taken seriously in their work than before. They want to have a say not only in the time and place of work, but also in the composition of teams and in management issues.

The prerequisite for this is to rethink the relationship between employees and companies in the future. To be successful here, human resources management must be more mobile lead agile, interdisciplinary and scientifically sound. This includes increas use of data in order to be able to make personnel decisions on a more sound basis than in the past.

What does this mean for human resources? Where should the focus of human resources work lie?

Modern and active human

Resources management is becoming increasingly essential for the success of a company. The future performance of a company is largely determin by retention, recruiting and personnel users you can reach subscribers and increase  development. Wrong appointments or employees who leave the company quickly or do not have the necessary skills lead to serious problems. However, human resources management can only do justice to the associat tasks if it makes target use of new approaches and concepts.

What challenges will HR professionals face in the future? Do you see any particular developments or even “trends” that will shape the future?
