Risks challenges and impacts of the crisis

What challenges do you see the current situation posing, especially for (smaller) companies and organizations?

There are some contradictory developments: On the one hand, the German economy is booming, or was booming, and order books are full. On the other hand, the lack of workers has slowed developments significantly. Now that one crisis has followed another, there is likely to be an increase in bankruptcies and a rise in the number of employees laid off. At the same time, we have a flood of refugees and more immigration. The question is whether – and if so, how – these effects interact. There may be some short-term relief in the shortage of skilled workers, coupled with consolidation in the corporate market.

The much greater challenge is likely to be to get the entire economy

society and its people through the multitude of crises. Companies, with their behavior, which is also influenced by HR, play a significant role in this. After all, we spend a large part of the day in rich people data the environment of our employer. This means that a large part of our self-esteem, our sense of effectiveness and our general satisfaction are fed from this source. If companies set the right framework here, dealing with the crises will also be much easier.

Why do you think this is

mission critical” for many of these (smaller) companies and organizations and therefore potentially threatening their existence? Or do you think it’s all a bit exaggerated and “not that bad”?

I think the statements that almost 40% of employees will quit and change employers within the next 12 months, as they are circulating in the media, are exaggerated. That would mean almost half of the workforce being replaced on average (!). I cannot imagine that there is so much courage across all sectors to change jobs in times of massive crisis.

However, it is critical for success to also focus on the mobile lead company’s internal aspects and, as a possible alternative to hiring new employees, to develop talent there or to invest in employee health and satisfaction.

“Leadership is about setting an example, inspiring and empowering, much more than just classic managerial behaviour.

But the people affected in an organization have to get that right first. This requires unlearning and rethinking, which we humans tend to find difficult.”
